Boehringer Wound Systems is a
wholly owned subsidiary of Boehringer
Laboratories, Inc. which brings over
30 years of innovation in medical
devices and hospital suction to
negative pressure wound therapy.
The technical innovations that are
at the heart of the new Engenex® Advanced Negative Pressure Wound
Therapy System are the collective
result of more than 30 years of
expertise in hospital suction systems,
instrumentation for anesthesia and
sterile consumables that contact
delicate tissue.
Since 1972, Boehringer Laboratories
has successfully introduced many
innovations in these fields, and has
been awarded over 50 patents in the
U.S.A. and in foreign countries.
Boehringer Laboratories produced
the first Inspiratory Force Meter with
memory to assess a patient’s ability to
breathe without mechanical ventilation.
A Peak Flow Meter followed to assess
obstructive lung disease.
The first practical PEEP (Positive End
Expiratory Pressure) device was
introduced shortly thereafter and is
still an important life support and
curative device. The first sterilizable
Spirometer was patented in 1977
and has become a reliable diagnostic
device for clinicians and a trusted
calibration standard for many
organizations.
A Long History In Suction Control and
Negative Pressure Technology
Boehringer Laboratories have been
experts in hospital vacuum systems
for more than 30 years. In 1986,
they introduced the first sterilizable
suction regulator line and have
continued to advance the state of the
art with patented technologies that
enhance patient care. This work in the
precision control of suction led to the
development of a total system for
gently collecting a patient’s blood in
the perioperative setting. The result of
this work is the Boehringer AUTO VAC Autotransfusion System; a carefully
engineered combination of vacuum
control, suction collection apparatus
with a patented method of selectively
removing lipids from shed blood.
